Salon software for chair renters and self-employed stylists

Last updated: 16 August 2026 · By the Revyfy team

A salon with rented chairs pays for the whole salon once on Revyfy: £39.99 a month, unlimited staff, zero commission, each stylist with their own diary column and clients choosing them when they book online. On per-person pricing every renter adds to the bill, a dated Fresha example being £9.95 per bookable team member.

Who is Revyfy?

Revyfy is UK salon software: online booking on your own branded page, the diary, POS, client records, reminders, email and SMS marketing and consent forms, plus the Revy AI assistant. One flat price of £39.99 a month, unlimited staff, zero commission on any booking. Our team moves your data over from your old system during the 14-day free trial, no card needed.

Why per-person pricing punishes salons with rented chairs

On a per-person pricing model, every renter working in the building counts as a bookable team member, whether they are employed by the salon or renting their own chair. The bill rises with headcount, not with how busy the salon actually is.

Fresha's Team plan, for example, charges £9.95 per bookable team member a month, as published at fresha.com/pricing, checked 16 August 2026. A salon with 5 chair renters pays £49.75 a month in subscription alone, before any new-client marketplace fees are added, and that figure rises again the moment a sixth renter joins, regardless of whether that renter is fully booked or just getting started.

The same logic keeps stacking as the salon grows. A salon with 8 chairs, most of them rented, would be paying £79.60 a month in subscription alone on a per-person model, before a single new-client fee is counted. Each renter who joins adds directly to that bill, whatever they bring in during their first month while they are still building a client base.

A flat price does not ask how many people work in the building. Whether a salon has two chairs or ten, and whether every chair is rented out or one sits empty, the monthly price on Revyfy stays £39.99.

How Revyfy handles a salon of self-employed stylists

Each stylist in the salon gets their own diary column, and clients choose which stylist they want when they book online.

The booking page shows every stylist working in the salon, so a client can pick the person they usually see, or browse who is available at a time that suits them. Once a booking lands, it sits in that stylist's own column in the diary, alongside everyone else's, so the whole salon's day is visible in one view without anyone needing to check separate systems.

Sales and revenue are reported per staff member, so it is straightforward to see what each stylist brought in over a day, a week or a month. Staff permissions control what each person can see and do inside the system, and the salon owner keeps visibility across the whole salon, every stylist, every column, from one account.

None of this depends on how the chairs are arranged commercially between the salon and the people working in it. Revyfy simply gives every stylist a diary column, a booking presence on the salon's page, and a place in the reporting, whatever the underlying arrangement between them and the salon happens to be.

If you are the self-employed stylist

If you rent your own chair and want your own account rather than joining the salon's, Revyfy works just as well as a system built for a single stylist.

Your own Revyfy account gives you your own branded booking page at your own link, your own diary, and your own client records and reminders, all separate from anyone else renting a chair in the same building. The price is the same flat £39.99 a month, with zero commission on any booking and no contract tying you in.

Nothing about running your own account depends on what software the rest of the salon uses. You can move to Revyfy on your own timeline, keep your existing clients booking with you the same way they always have, and decide later whether the rest of the salon follows.

During your trial, the Revyfy team moves your clients and future appointments across from your old system, so your diary is not empty on your first day.

What a 5-chair salon pays

On a per-person model plus new-client marketplace fees, a 5-chair salon can end up paying roughly three times what a flat price costs, for the same number of bookings.

ChargeMonthly cost
Per-person subscription (5 × £9.95)£49.75
New-client fees (8 new clients/month at £45 average, 20%)£72.00
Total£121.75
Revyfy (flat, unlimited staff, zero commission)£39.99

Those figures are dated (fresha.com/pricing and the same 20% new-client structure used throughout this guide, checked 16 August 2026) and will move with booking volume and value, but the shape holds regardless: a per-person model with marketplace fees on top scales with headcount and new clients, while a flat price does not move at all.

The gap widens further as the salon takes on more new clients in a given month, or as more chairs get rented out over time. Nothing about the £39.99 flat price changes in response to either.

The flat-price alternative: Revyfy

Revyfy is one flat £39.99 a month, whatever the number of chairs, however many are rented out, and however busy the salon is. It covers unlimited staff, each with their own diary column and their own online booking availability, plus the diary, POS, client records with notes and consent forms, reminders, email and SMS marketing, custom forms, and rooms and equipment booking. Revy AI is an optional add-on at £24.99 a month.

During your 14-day free trial, the Revyfy team moves your data over: staff, clients, notes, services, future appointments, gift cards and stock all come across, so nobody in the salon starts from a blank system. No card is needed to start.

Whether the salon books everyone in under one account or individual stylists prefer to run their own, the pricing question answers itself the same way: one flat price per account, unlimited staff inside it, and no percentage taken from a booking regardless of who is renting what.
